The Park!! Mom dropped Eladia and Dad off at the park while she ran to the store. It is Eladia's favorite place in town, after all (and after her cousins').

(She only looked like this at the start.)
Now how could this lead to liking water? Well, it was 5 PM, which is just a hair past the hottest point of the day in these parts. At it's the end of July..... which means the temperature was around 98 degrees. Oh, and the playground was still getting blasted with sunlight which put the heat index somewhere close to 103 F (it's a "dry" heat). After about 10 minutes, the girl who doesn't like water quickly figured out how to drink from a fountain.
Necessity is the mother of invention, after all. (According to Eladia, "necessity" means scatter-brained parents.)
To Eladia's credit, she did hang in out there. Once she was done with the water fountain (fifteen minutes later), Eladia and Dad found some shade, and watched the boys at the skate park. Eladia kept watching them go back and forth, and back and forth. She couldn't peel her eyes away. (Hope Mom and Dad keep their health insurance.)
She also made it back to the playground when the shade hit it, and she made a new friend. Another boy showed up (probably 2 1/2) with his new four-runner toy. He let the four-runner roll down the slide. Eladia would then go get it and bring it back to him. No prompting, she just started doing it right away. (As is happening a lot, Mom and Dad tried to determine on which intelligence/achievement test that behavior would earn another point.... they are kinda screwy in the head like that.)
On a related note, Eladia is looking forward to driving to Buffalo next weekend, but she is disappointed to hear that they have been going through a heat wave too. In fact, it might break 80 on the day they arrive. Wow! That's really, really............ frigid!
